What’s the big difference between a Velcro style diaper and a Tape style baby diaper? Why Tape style is gradually being replaced with Velcro style for diapers of brands that are quality conscious. While everything gets updated, modernised and improvised it is time that we discuss about why brands prefer velcor style baby diapers over tape style diapers.
Whether it is velcro or tape, the main purpose of it is to fasten and secure the diaper around the baby’s hip with a snug. It is admittedly true that both would serve the purpose but when it comes to the durability with which this would be offered is to be affirmatively answered in favour of the Velcro style. Generally speaking velcro contains two strips of fabric one with hooks and the other with loops or a coarse surface. When both comes into contact it with each other it adheres and is separated by pulling it apart. Tape style commonly has a strip which has an adhesive and bonds with the other surface that comes into contact with it.
While securing a baby with a diaper you would have noticed that we would often secure it around the baby’s hip and in order to be double sure that it doesn’t too tightly wrap around the baby’s hip we would secure it once and then again based on our judgement would often make adjustments and this si where the difference between a velcro style and tape style be obvious to you. While the strength of the adhesiveness in a tape style diaper would wear off if the tape is repeatedly pasted and removed the velcro style on the other hand is designed to withstand such handling. Also the boning strength of the adhesive would gradually wither off over time which is a natural phenomenon. This being the case the bonding strength of velcro doesn’t wither off like that of a tape. Also, it is common for parents to often check baby’s diaper for pee or poop and with nappee velcro style baby diaper it is easy and just as explained above the bonding strength doesn’t reduce whenever it is done.
